The Kiev Bera 2 produced by Kiev Arsenal factory between 1961 - 64 is identical to the Kiev Vega, but now with an Industar-M 23mm f3.5 lens. It is a sub-miniature camera using 16mm film in a special one-piece cassette with built-in feed and take-up spools which gives a frame size of 10x14 mm.
The end of the aluminium body has been redesigned to provide a better grip, it has new nameplate marking, a calculator disk with weather symbols on top of the body and "Киïв/Kiev" logo engraved onto the camera's front plate.
It uses the “push-pull” cocking and film advance system and it is only possible to use the viewfinder and shutter release when the camera is in the extended position. The viewfinder window and lens openings are protected by flat glass plates.
The focus control wheel (focusing from 0.5m - infinity) is in an indentation next to the shutter release button. The aperture and shutter speed (1/30, 1/60 & 1/200sec - all sound correct) controls are at the end of the body.
The viewfinder and lens appear clear and free from dirt and fungus, the push-pull mechanism works flawlessly and apart from some age-related wear and tear marks, the body work is in good condition, both inside and out.
The 16mm cassette is in good condition as are the brown leather case, instructions (in Russian) and quality control card dated 1963.
Uses 16mm film (not included)
